Prusament PP Glass Fiber is a lightweight material with exceptional chemical resistance. It resists various solvents, non-oxidized bases, acids, and oils. Due to its lightweight properties and extreme heat and chemical resistance, the Prusament PP Glass Fiber is suitable for demanding applications in the automotive and aerospace industries. It can serve its purpose in laboratories for custom equipment, such as vial racks. Hobbyists may find this filament useful for printing drone parts and other components that require outstanding mechanical properties.

This material is filled with glass fibers to improve its dimensional stability. You can use Prusament PP Glass Fiber to print large models without an enclosure, which is something that can’t be achieved when printing pure polypropylene. However, the glass fibers inside are highly abrasive and require using a hardened nozzle.

Print surface preparation

We wanted to make polypropylene as easy to print as possible. That’s why we developed a brand new PP sheet, which is the best solution for printing polypropylene-based materials. With regular PEI sheets, you will face extremely low surface adhesion, which can be improved only by using additional accessories, like polypropylene tape. Preparing such a separation layer takes some time and requires some skill, plus the tape leaves glue on the print surface. With the PP Sheet, all you need to do is to swap the sheets and degrease the surface with IPA as usual.

Pour a small amount of IPA on an unscented paper towel and wipe the print surface. The bed should be cleaned when it’s cold for the best results but it can also be cleaned when already preheated for PP, just be careful not to touch the bed surface or the nozzle. But keep in mind that when cleaning at higher temperatures, the alcohol will evaporate before it can clean anything. Alternatively, you can clean the bed with warm water and a few drops of dish soap on a paper towel. Denatured alcohol is also another option.

Postprocessing

PP can be postprocessed with sandpaper, razor blades, and a variety of other instruments. Wet sanding is recommended (due to airborne particles) but not necessary as the material doesn’t deform under the heat caused by friction.
